Job Title: Project Controls Specialist(Jr Level)

Location: Houston, TX

Duration: Contract 1 year   

Pay Range: $40 plus OT after 40 while on contact, salary once direct 

Work Schedule: Normal M-F 40 hours a week, sometimes up to 50 

Target start date: ASAP

OVERVIEW:

The Scheduler will be part of a team responsible for technical aspects of project controls on an EPC project – from early development phase through commissioning and turnover.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support of project and department objectives
  • Support project reporting in all aspects, including data assembly & validation for projects ranging in size from $100,000 to over $3 billion total-installed-cost
  • Ensure consistent and useful project reporting
  • Interface with engineers, designers, and field crews to verify work plans
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain a plan and schedule for the “life of construction project, startup and commissioning”
  • Work with planners & schedulers in support of multiple projects
  • Work with cost engineers, accounting, & progress analysts in support of multiple projects
  • Identify trends that impact final cost and schedule projections
  • Review and organize projects’ costs and plans into spreadsheets and databases
  • Monitor commitments, change orders, and adjust forecasts to reflect change orders
  • Report actual versus baseline cost status and prepare final cost reports 
  • Support project invoicing data and validation
  • Create & maintain time-phased invoicing plans, aligned to project estimates & budgets
  • Prepare graphic representation of data such as progress curves, earned value, etc.
  • Work with project team to validate that essential quantity data is being captured
  • Work with programmers to improve database interface/output in support of project controls
  • Learn and adjust progress database features, including cost, schedule, planning, & forecasting modules. Teach database use to key stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree
  • 2+ years’ of experience in engineering, procurement, and/or construction planning or cost control
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent prioritization skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and ability to develop scope of work and schedule
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high change environment, juggling multiple projects at a time and working successfully with several clients
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to handle sensitive and confidential issues
