Manufacturing Test Technician  

 Manufacturing Engineering (MFE) provide technical and operational expertise regarding the processes, equipment and best practices needed for effective manufacturing.  The MFE department as a whole is responsible for the manufacturing processes in the following areas within the Chelmsford factory: New Product Introduction (NPI), Electro-Mechanical equipment design, Equipment software, Lean processes, Process Costing, Project Management and Documentation.  This departmental ownership will drive the business goals for the Chelmsford PC which include Safety, Cost, and Quality products and processes for Edwards‘ internal and external customers.  


This specific Technician role within MFE will support the team to execute a variety of engineering tasks in the Chelmsford/Haverhill factory.  The Technician will support MFE Process & Project activity such as:

•    Preventative Maintenance schedules of factory equipment 
•    Troubleshoot and Repair of factory equipment
•    Assist in electro-mechanical fabrication of Prototype equipment
•    Assist in creative brainstorming of new equipment concepts and continuous improvement ideation
•    Document new fixtures, tooling and Schematics using Autocad (2D), ProE (3D) CAD software and Visio
•    Troubleshoot, PM and mechanically repair factory equipment with goal of maximizing uptime
•    Troubleshoot electronics and PLC software with the goal to maximize Machine uptime
•    Clear communicator with MFE, Team Leaders and outside vendors to drive problem resolution and a timely repair.  That includes ordering parts, scheduling service, expediting deliveries in an organized and trackable manner
•    Work from Schematics, Diagrams, User manuals and equipment guides as required
•    Assist MFE to fabricate, assemble and program machines such as Test Stands, Fixtures, Machines or Automation•    Help maintain 5S and continuous improvement activities within the factory
•    Support Data collection set ups for Test, SPC and Production metrics


•    High School Degree required

•    4 years of hands on experience working with machines in a manufacturing environment
•    Understanding and familiarity of PLC’s (Siemens ladder logic) preferred
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong organization skills in terms of time management and prioritization in an dynamic factory setting
•    Comfortable working safely with basic Machine tools (Mill, Lathe, Drill Press, etc) 
•    Licensed Electrician would be a bonus, Welding experience would be a bonus
•    Comfortable working with MFE in creative brainstorm sessions seeking new manufacturing methods
•    Ability to wear all PPE, uniform, steel toe shoes, latex gloves, smock, mask. Understanding cleanroom practices.
•    Equipment changeover using lock out tag out process
