Manufacturing Engineer

 

Summary Develop and continuously improve the tools and processes required to manufacture products, Implant, Thermal Processing, Cure and Clean, for internal and external customers. These tools include comprehensive and precise process documentation, standard work, assembly fixtures, lean manufacturing techniques. Review engineering change orders (ECO’s) for manufacturing impact and compatibility. Participate in cross functional design and quality team efforts to identify and correct issues affecting cost, deliver, and quality of products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

•Assists in investigating and initiating corrective action on manufacturing problems arising in the manufacture of one or more of the following: chemicals; parts and materials; the assembly of mechanical units, assemblies, subsystems and systems; or manufacturing problems associated with the inspection and/or testing of company produced products.

•Reviews and evaluates minor engineering changes and/or other specification requirements and performs technical liaison with production planning and engineering personnel.

•Prepares engineering schematics and parts list for system components to facilitate manufacturing planning.

  1. in the development of Manufacturing process improvement ideas, through the implementation of LEAN manufacturing principles, implementation of assembly tooling/fixturing, and improvement of product quality.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university and 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree preferred: ME, EE, II, Ind Eng, or Mfg Eng

Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English sufficiently well to perform job functions. Basic Computer Literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, Access – preferred but not essential) Strong problem solving abilities, Fundamental use of AutoCAD and/or PRO-E, General mechanical assembly skills (use of tools and techniques),Competency in organizational systems regarding engineering implementation (ECOs, Root Cause Analysis)

Required Skills:

General Manufacturing Engineering support in the production of Ion Implanters.

  • Optimize the quality and productivity of an electromechanical manufacturing cell by implementing lean manufacturing principles, including but not limited to defining and documenting standard work via visual work instructions and participating in Kaizen events to implement process improvements.
  • Perform root cause evaluation for quality defects and implement appropriate containment and corrective actions.
  • Design and fabrication of fixturing to aid in the assembly of complex products;
  • Coordinating and supporting component cost reduction initiatives.
