Experienced Machinist – CNC – Milling and Lathe

Job Title: CNC Machinist
Location: Lawrence, MA
Pay Rate: $32–$37/hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to work independently fabricating, repairing, and rebuilding tools and die components using both manual and CNC machine shop equipment. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the capability to manage projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.

Essential Responsibilities

Manual Machining:

• Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders

• Maintain machines and tooling in proper working condition

• Sharpen knives, scissors, and steel rule dies

• Service steel rule dies (sharpen blades, replace punches, etc.)

• Perform basic, intermediate, and complex mold repairs, including:

  • Repairing mold marks

  • Updating date codes

  • Re-fitting molds and trim tools

  • Re-cutting molds and re-establishing closure dimensions

• Assemble and disassemble dies

• Sharpen dies using surface grinders and hand tools

CNC Machining:

• Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes

• Select proper tooling and work holding for each job

• Maintain machines and tooling

• Anticipate all steps required to complete jobs from start to finish

Additional Duties:

• Read and interpret blueprints and tool design documentation

• Fabricate complex tooling and components

• Inspect machined parts and understand GD&T requirements

• Use various hand and power tools

• Make recommendations to improve process flow

• Maintain a clean and organized work area

• Support other functional areas as needed to meet business demands

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of machining experience

• CNC machining (set-up, operating, programming) experience

• CAD/CAM programming experience

• Ability to work independently and fully plan jobs from start to finish

• High school diploma, GED, trade school, or equivalent work experience

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

• Valid driver’s license

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Manufacturing environment

• Ability to stand for 8–10 hours per day

• Ability to reach into tight areas within machinery
