Engineering Team Lead (Engineering Manager)
Salary: $130K–$195K + bonus + benefits
Location: onsite in San Francisco, CA (94124)
Duration: Permanent/Direct-Hire
Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Team Lead to provide technical oversight and manage engineering design teams on complex electrical engineering projects. This role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and team management, and includes responsibility for project finances, resource planning, and mentoring engineering staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineers, designers, and modeling staff on project work
- Develop engineering work plans, budgets, and resource plans
- Coordinate with Project Managers on deliverables, schedules, and additional service requests
- Resolve complex engineering and design coordination issues
- Coordinate with city, state, and regulatory agencies
- Attend design meetings and perform occasional site visits
- Perform value engineering and engineering analysis
- Serve as Engineer of Record when required
- Oversee electrical system studies (short circuit, arc flash, voltage drop, etc.)
- Support equipment testing, commissioning, and construction coordination
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Sciences
- 8+ years of engineering experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Field or construction experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing engineering teams and project resources
Technical Experience
- Electrical power distribution (LV/MV/HV)
- Load calculations, equipment layout, lighting and controls
- Grounding, utility coordination, and electrical codes
- Electrical system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop)
- Construction documents and design coordination
- Commissioning and equipment testing
Skills
- Leadership and team management
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
